Senior Human Resource Generalist

Job Location: Union City, CA
Position Type: HR & Talent Management
Description
  • Supports Human Resources management and team with all phases of HR management and supports business needs, goals and objectives, and related local and Corporate HR programs.

  • Primary responsibilities include interpreting policies; ensuring compliance with all policies, company processes, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and state/federal employment laws; partnering with management on employee/labor relations; and conducting internal investigations as assigned by HR management.

  • Partners with all levels of management and both union and non-union employees to communicate various local and Corporate HR objectives and procedures in compliance with company policy, union contracts and employment law.

  • Conducts internal investigations as assigned by either local and/or Corporate HR management.

  • Proactively provides consultation and coaching on employee/labor relations issues by assisting managers with the implementation of progressive discipline and performance management plans.

  • Drafts corporate communications, investigative reports and works effectively in conjunction with department management, corporate HR. , and legal counsel, when directed to do so by HR management.

  • Acts as a first point of contact for line managers and provides support in regards to employee/labor relations issues, inquiries and complaints. Provides prompt and appropriate guidance under the management of the department manager.

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local employment laws which will require an on-going commitment to continuing education and familiarity with changes in labor laws and regulations.

· Collaborates with the CA Talent Management function in the creation of Affirmative Action Plans to support diversity and inclusion strategies.

  • Partners with all functional sales and operations departments in the company to ensure proper handling of employee-related issues and concerns. Escalates issues to HR management when appropriate.

  • Supports department and company-wide special projects and additional responsibilities as they present themselves whether annual (Benefits Open Enrollment, Service Awards, etc) or spontaneous.

· Performs other related duties as required.

  • Adherence to company attendance policy.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business, Communication and/or related field.

  • 5+ years of progressive and relevant high level HR experience in the areas of employee/labor relations, internal investigations, conflict resolution and talent acquisition.

· Proficient knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to support detailed report development/investigations, as well as business memos, policy summaries and necessary documentation.

  • Creativity, innovation and the ability to solve problems and generate viable solutions.

  • Must be approachable and effective with ability to influence change across all levels of the organization.

· Must have good time management skills and be able to prioritize duties.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, but also discern situations where information must be shared on a 'need to know' basis.

  • Ability to work with all professionals at different levels coupled with mediation, negotiation and consultation strengths.

· Ability and willingness to comply with, and support all company policies.

  • Good knowledge of related federal and state employment laws/regulations including ADAAA, FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and Worker's Compensation.

Preferred Credentials:

  • Master’s Degree with emphasis in Human Resources, Business, or equivalent is preferred.

· Human Resources PHR/SPHR preferred.

· Bilingual in English and Spanish desired, but not required.
